Do you believe in marriage equality?
Jun. 5th, 2012 01:09 pmI do. That’s why I’m proud to show my support for JC Penney’s Father’s Day ad, featuring a family with two dads.
"What makes Dad so cool? He's the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver — all rolled into one. Or two. Real-life dads, Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason."
The ad came as a response to the campaign by the uber bigoted One Million Moms group that called for Penney to drop Ellen DeGeneres as their spokeswoman. Of course OMM, is part of The American Family Association, a far right wing Xtian group that is famous for its hated of virtually everything (They’ve been listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.) including, apparently, captive animals. In 2010 it called for Sea World to STONE TO DEATH a killer whale that killed its trainer. To which I say “Are you people insane? Have you been taking bath salts?” One thing is for sure, they may call themselves Christians but there’s nothing Christlike about them.
Anyway, I feel very strongly about all this, and wanted to show my support. I’ve tweeted about it, put this add up on my Pinterest board, posted it to Facebook, and I wanted to do it here because it gave me more of an opportunity to say what I thought.
WTG, JCP! Ya done good, and you’ve earned my loyalty, not just for your support of marriage equality and LBGT rights, but because you had the moral strength to stand up to the bullies. Well done.
